22 Milford

Day 7 broke unseasonably cool, which means absolutely perfect weather.  Not anxious to battle 3 miles of rush hour traffic on suburban roads we chose to load the bikes and van to the Little Miami Scenic trail. On the way we went over a sharp bump and bounced my bike partially off the rack. A following car began honking. Obviously I had not properly secured the bike, thinking it was only a shot ride. By luck and a steel frame no serious damage was done. Some handlebar tape was ripped off and a bar end plug lost. Neither a big deal. I wrapped the bars in electrical tape which fells very good. WE pass a bike shop tomorrow where I hope to get another plug.

Bob did first sag. Tom and Ross had long sleeves and I had chill bumps for the first few miles.  The trail had more bicycle traffic than on any of my prior rides there, but not so much as to be a bother. The trail was just as sublime as ever. This time with fall foliage.  When we stopped to take pictures of some trail art a young lady jogger, Meghan, offered to take a group picture.  When we expressed concern for interrupting her jog she said she was about done anyway. She must have done a marathon for we leapfrogged each other for six miles as we stopped for pictures or just to better see something.

There was a nasty detour over busy roads due to construction we again elected to van around. I got confused about sag order and took Tom’s turn of 18 miles of gorgeous trail.  No matter, this is at least my 5th cycle of this trail with more to come.  Ross took over sag at Origana from where Tom, Bob, and I cycled on to The Hearthstone Inn in Cedarville. Then inn and town are inviting as ever.  Supper was spaghetti and a pizza near the inn. Tomorrow it’s on to Columbus and to fetch jimmy at the airport rental site.
