23 Cedarville

Another fine day and breakfast. I awoke with no alarm at 6:15 to find Bob already at breakfast.  Tom was asleep till Ross rousted him at 7:00 after a 10 hour sleep.  We were all suited up and gone by 8:00 am. Tom had first sag so remained to take images and video.

The temperature was cool enough for us to all have long sleeves. I removed my windbreaker at first rest stop but was still uncomfortably cool till after noon.  Most of the route was on tree lined smooth straight rail trail. That was good for many easy car free miles but hard on the behind.  Most of the time we were doing 12-15 mph in a steady cadence.  We stopped for coffee at the much loved London Coffee Peddler where Mike confirmed that tomorrow’s route to Coshocton should be OK. We had done Columbus to Coshocton before on a mix of trails and quite roads. This will be a new experience.

Once into Columbus proper Tom navigated the dozens of turns till almost the hotel where he noticed his rear tire was low. After pumping it I got ahead and missed the turn to our hotel.  Tom is checking the tire tonight.

Jimmy had rented a truck and had already checked into one room where he left his bike and gear before going on to the rental car return at the airport.  After getting settled, I used Ross’s van to fetch Jimmy.  After the usual introductions we settled on a nearby Jamaican place for supper.  It was carryout only so we brought the food to the hotel breakfast area. There was some discussion about ice cream before inertia got the better of us and we all readied for bed.

Bob has reworked rooming and payments to distribute cost and the single room equitably.  Tonight we have a two bedded room with sleeper sofa on which Ross is now sleeping.  Tomorrow we use the van to get out of Columbus city, then on to Coshocton. Mike at the coffee peddler told us the OTET goes through Columbus but did admit some of it was on sidewalks.  Since Smyrna, GA, I don’t trust sidewalk routes.
