29 Connellsville

Today was always to be a long day. It was.  No sag for me or Bob on a 58 mile day. All was on the GAP and all slightly uphill. That meant pedaling every inch of the way.

Scenery was great. Even great can get monotonous. By ride’s end Bob, Jimmy, Tom and I were taking breaks every six miles to relieve our butts.  We went over several amazing bridges. Some of the trail surface was sketchy. Both Jimmy and I fell to no apparent injury.  That’s the good.

The bad. On the van ride from Meyersdale my bike once again fell off the rack with more damage this time. The right shift lever was partially ground down. I tried to contain my anger with only partial success. I believe the bike is still rideable.

The even worse. The surface road 12 mile ride from the motel to the Meyersdale GAP access is absolutely not possible. That means loading all the bikes and riders into Ross’s van for a trip back up the mountain to Meyersdale. Also complicates fetching the van after the ride. We have a plan. Wish us well.
