MASON-DIXON LINE

Rest day was truly a rest day for me. Habit had us up around 6 am in time for a leisurely breakfast and to say our temporary farewells to Bob as he boarded a train shuttle to begin his cycle back to Hendersonville. I did the prior day’s narrative, loafed for a few hours until DTI and I toured the Cumberland C&O canal museum before meeting Tom and Ross for lunch at the nearby McDonald’s. We tried to find another place but gave up and settled for the much more visible sign. Jimmy had elected to cycle the C&O canal towpath to Old Town for lunch.

After lunch, DTI and I toured the Cumberland Museum located in the old post office. Both tours were interesting and informative. Tom worked on his blog while Ross allegedly loafed all day. He was actually prepping himself and the van for our drive home. Tom and Ross loaded their bikes inside the van, the better to protect the ebikes from possible rain and to lessen the suspect rack’s load.

Shortly after DTI and I finished our last museum tour, a moderately muddy but happy Jimmy had done the ride. He arrived home ready for supper. This night the almost deserted city had a place for us at the Crabby Pig where we dined outside in perfect autumn afternoon weather.

Then it was back to the hotel to sort and pack for the long drive home.
